First of all: why this blog. Well as I wrote in my first post I'm a software developer and the SQL Server has just been a tool for storing data for me. But now a days we have lots of developers at my company and my job is more and more maintaining the SQL Server with all the objecs residing on that.
That means that I more or less have gone from programming to DBA. To gain more knowledge the company have decided that I should take the trip from Denmark to USA to attend SQL PASS Summit 2011. And in preparation for this I meet a lot of people online - all of them very dedicate to there work as DBA. I want that :)
I will try to write about the thinks I found ground breaking for me in my work to gain knowledge on the stuff I have to work on. As well about all the things I will learn on and after summit - just as much as a way to process and store it for later use.
As a newbie I know that to much technical stuff can be confusing. So in this blog, I will really try to keep it simple. There will be a more technical and accurate way to describe the things I will be writing about - but let the guru's deal with that - I'll just try to give you enough knowledge to get on with it and then you can search for a more in-depth explanation later.
BTW I welcome that more experienced DBA write comments on my blog with more in-depth information or linked to other pages with this information.

In 84/85 I was in Minnesota, USA for a year where I graduated from high school as a senior at Minnetonka High School - Class of 85. I still look back at that year with a lot of love in my heart. I have since then dreamt about going back one day.
